If you have mitigating
circumstances which may prevent you from submitting work on time, you
may be eligible for either an extension or a negotiated learning plan
(NLP). More information is available on ymoodle; but here is a brief
overview of when to request an extension or NLP and how to go about it.
can request a one-week extension for up to two pieces of work during
each Level of study. There is an Extenuating Circumstances Request Form
(ECRF) on ymoodle which you need to download and submit to our HE
Programme Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you would like to talk
this through with her, please give her a call on 020 7540 4926. Please
note that we may not necessarily be able to deal with extension requests
on the actual due date as this will depend on staff availability.
Ideally, please give as much notice as possible. If an emergency
presents itself on the due date then we will do our best to turn the
request around as soon as we can.
If you exhaust your two
extension opportunities and you require a further extension, this will
need to be sent off to the University Institution’s mitigating
circumstances panel for approval. Please still complete a ECRF providing
supporting evidence and submit to the HE Programme Coordinator who will
forward this on to your awarding University.
Negotiated Learning Plans
negotiated learning plan is something we can put in place for students
who have on-going mitigating circumstances. We would need to see
supporting evidence to put an NLP in place and this would also need to
be approved by our HE Programme Committee. Once a negotiated learning
plan has been put in place and new submission dates have been agreed
between the student and HE Programme Coordiator, this NLP can then not
be re-negotiated unless new supporting evidence has been provided and
approved by the HE Programme Committee. Again, if you would like to talk
through further, please contact the HE Programme Coordinator and she
can advise (email@example.com or 020 7540 4926).
